For those who don’t believe the Bullmastiff is capable of a somewhat normal canine life expectancy, my Bruno, my first Bullmastiff, is now 14 yrs old. His picture is my avatar.

Thats a very good age, my eldest lived to be 12, one made 10 and the others averaged between 7 and 9 and one we lost at 5 with an enlarged heart .

From what I hear from most, 12 is doing pretty good. My vet says he’s never seen a mastiff breed past 10. Bruno, my 14 yr old gets special treatment from everyone at the clinic. They come down to him now instead of him having to get on the table, and it’s like the clinic is on hold when I walk in with him, lol ! It’s kind of funny. He’s been my vet nearly 40 years, and I’ve never seen this reaction with anyone’s dog before. He’s royalty there, lol.

Lol ! No,.....I’m not one of those crazy people who think canines are humans. I’d never lower him to that standard lol !

And I thought it was only me that didn't make cakes for my dogs!

Those celebrations are merely owner self indulgence. Do canines the biggest of favor and seek symbiosis in their mentality, don’t attempt to confuse them with human mentality. This is a lost cause. With great observation, we can more imagine their thinking, where the reverse is a much more difficult task for them, which ends in them merely remembering cause and effect. Still a confusion for them given our complexities.
