I hope everyone is safe and dry during this horrible weather and if you are out and about that no difficulties are encountered.

I’ve just opened the back door to let my four dogs out, one went and performed as expected. One went out four feet turned round and came straight back in and the other two looked at me as though I was insane! They’re all happily snoozing now, when they’d normally be reminding me that it’s walk time. They’re not daft!!

I feel for anyone with puppies at the moment!

Mine too, well especially my Basset.  Nose out - 'hey, I'm way too kool for that'.    I had to boot him over the step!   But he was back pretty fast.   Neither is going out on exercise today.   My Whippet would take off (blown away).

Stay home and pray the roof stays put.

I'm tempted to see what it's like down the road (coast) but hearing the surf is enough.   Surf is definitely up!!   SW N. Cornwall coast.

Really not too bad here on the Scottish Borders -windy during the  night and wet  but just sunshine and showers at the moment. Some of mine are in disgrace having buggered off during a walk in the woods yesterday and devoured the greater part of a dead animal. The aftermath has not been pleasant !

Same here.. its horrendous and they are sleeping, refusing a walk, refusing the garden and behaving lol

Wind speed here according to our local BBC site, 100 mph rising to 102 mph for 3 p.m. A little breezy, but staying at the back of the house so don't hear the full force hitting the front, Oscar & I have been around the block between showers.
Lots of people driving past going down to the Bay to look at the waves & unbelievably public have already had to call 999 for a windsurfer in difficulties at the other end of the Island! Stay safe.

I was kept awake by the horrendous howling of the wind.  Dogs slept through it all.  Then this morning it brought one of my trees down.  Boy it's pretty strong here.

It might be a good idea to worm them (ie tapeworm).

Good point. They aren't due  but I'll do it now.
Wind picking up a bit but Eastern Borders don't seem to have got anything like they have further west. My 9 month old BC is terrified of wind . She gets really spooked by the huge copper beech tree outside the window.

River only ever goes out supervised on lead (our garden isn’t secure because we have visiting badgers) which is both a blessing and a curse in this weather!

On the one hand I definitely know he’s toileting even if it does sometimes take a while because he’s nervous about the wind, or a wheelie bin lid banging, or a fallen tree branch that wasn’t there before.

But on the other hand I have to keep going out in it myself, and I’m still not 100% convinced I’m not going to be blown ever. (I had a stroke about 18 months ago and it affected my balance - I’m almost completely recovered but it’s still always at the back of my mind that I’m not as steady as i used to be.)

Can you take a stick with you?   My husband's stroke has left him somewhat unbalanced (but at his age, he might have been like that anyway) and he takes one of his sticks out with him.   He had a fall a few years ago and had a nasty gash in his head + a hospital trip !!

Take care.   I'm trying to decide whether to take a 20 mile (and back) trip this morning - not so much because of the wind but in case a tree comes down!!

Sunday was ok, 3 fence panels blew out but husband fixed them for the moment and fencers are coming today. Smallest Cavalier was being blown sideways when I let them out for a supervised pee!! She looked very miffed. Yesterday was more annoying, woke up to find lights and power barely working, and when I got home from work everything was out completely. Repairmen were out there all evening bless them, but it was pretty horrible not having lights, heating, hot water, microwave etc! Seems to have been fixed overnight thank goodness, it was absolutely freezing when I went to bed in spite of putting clothes on over pyjamas!

Play it safe MamaBas.  A tree has already come down on a car, killing the gentleman inside.

Phew - there and home now.   Shame the car was washed by the dealer but by the time I'd got home, through hail and sleet, it was almost as dirty as before ....................     Not a fallen tree in sight.

Now we have to repair some trellis on top of the back fence but it could have been worse.   Oh and the cover on my mini-greenhouse has cracks all over it - serves me right for buying 'cheap'!!
