hi can anyone advise me on choosing a pup. we don't know whether to have one from a breeder or a rescue centre. i always wanted a labrador but have heard they chew everything in sight. my son who's dog it will be is familiar with jack russells but doesn't want one. is it better to have a bitch? i welcome any advice on choosing an easy to train loyal well behaved dog(and so i spose would most people)thank you your advice is much appreciated

Hi Kaytee,
Any dog of any breed can chew - but not all of them do! If a dog is bored it will think of something to while away the time - they usually chew.

To be perfectly honest, any dog will be loyal, easy to train and well-behaved if the owner can put in the time and effort. Like everything else in life, the more you put in, the more you get out.

The best choice is the dog you like the look of. One man's meat is another man's poison etc etc...

Hi KAYTEE
I think of you just want a pet, it would be nice to have one from rescue.Obviously check out why they are in kennels..as already said any dog can chew if bored and I don't think any breed differs in that, some of the breed will and some won't.
Why not go to a rescue and see the dogs there and if there's one you take a liking to, make the neccessary enquiries.Dogs are dogs whatever they look like, everyone on here has their own breed and can tell you how nice they are..but it's personal preference really. But rescue s are always in need so you could give one a nice home :)
