2 of my dogs received a (3 yearly vaccine) their rabies vaccine in January this year. Both traveled to Europe in April this year.
Once again I need to go to Europe in April next year. My vaccine obviously covers this period however with the current state of Brexit, i should titre test to see what level of antibodies they have.
My question is has anybody titre tested 12 months after the vaccine and had an acceptable antibody immunity?
Or would you just revaccinate

Definitely just titer test - you don't want to be re-vaccinating unless absolutely necessary, especially for rabies.

People are titer testing for distemper and parvo years after just puppy vaccs and getting positive titers and there's no reason to think this would be different for rabies.

Depends on the outcome of BREXIT. As far as I am aware(from a bona fide DEFRA source)the law for dogs coming to the UK isn't going to change, however for dogs going to the EU may need to have a health certificate within a specific time before travelling plus a positive titre test if the UK becomes an unlisted country under the European Pet Travel Scheme.

To give yourself safety for your travel you may wish to first to titre test & if a positive result your dogs passport will continue to be valid, I would do this fairly soon. If the titre test isn't postive then revaccinate & titre test 30 days later.

As far as I am aware few dogs failed to get a positive titre test after vacvination & of course once you have that positive titre result it doesn't need to be done again as long as the revaccinations are done in time.

The UK government can apply for listed status after BREXIT( or include it in the BREXIT deal)& then there will be no need for titre tests as the UK is classed as a rabies free country.

Thank you for your very comprehensive recommendations, I very much appreciate the time you have taken to explain what Brexit could mean in terms of travelling with our dogs. Just wish they would get on with it, whatever it is.

I just HATE vaccinating my dogs, I’ll be honest and say I have not vaccinated at all for 20 years. Only rabies in the last 5 years since travelling abroad.
I understand that everybody has different views, which I respect on the subject of vaccinations.
Thank you for replying to my querry.

I think everyone would agree with that about BREXIT.
