Hi I normally use Petnap whelping pads but was wondering about using  petsathome puppy pads instead as they do a good offer for 200 online which works out much cheaper. What puopy/ whelping pads do you use or recommend? I sm using a petnap whelping box. Thanks x

Chippy paper and quick drying blankets from Ikea - cheaper and more environmentally friendly (no plastic) Then vet bed once birthing is over.

You make a very valid point about the plastics ofthe puppy pads. I think i will try with newspaper whilst they are in the box and then shredded tea bags after. Thank you

I use disposable human bed pads from Amazon - for incontinence!  Much cheaper.

I use incon pads too. Work well until they decide to have a chew then its back to newspaper and vet bed only

I only use them during whelping, for the mess, then I use vet bed and change it twice a day.

about to have my first litter got a mixture of vet beds, puppy pads, incontinence pads (given to me) and newspaper. I will have to see what work the best when. All i remember from puppies in the past is puppy pads turned in to good confetti and wasnt used for its desired purpose.

For twenty-five years I have used (for the messy birthing part) my pile of antique diapers.  The kind you had to wash!  Following the birth, it's vetbed all the way.  For the actual birthing I prefer something white, absorbent (unlike vetbed) in enough quantity that I can pull away the wet ones after each pup and replace with clean dry ones.  So my old diapers are perfect.  They are also good for grasping the puppy itself.

i knew i should have kept hold of my twins terry towelling nappies for the past quarter century.
I have a good supply of towels on hand hoping to be being used tonight.
