Topic Dog Boards / Health / Inter articular injections

My Gr boy had a cruciate repair eighteen months ago and initially recovered well. However for the past few weeks he has been lame on that same leg and sometimes on the other hind leg.  After extensive x rays today it was found that he now has arthritis in both hind legs (one more extensive than the other),  the vet has suggested hydrotherapy and intra articular injections.
Just wonder if anyone has any experience of these and if so did they help.
He is only three and a half years old and I am worried sick about the future prognosis for him.
Thanks in advance.

Not sure it's the same but we are currently having stem cell injections for arthritis  for .my 15 year old cat.
We are under Fitzpatrick as they have more experience  with this than others
admitted it's usually dogs they work on and as the procedure is fairly new still fairly low numbers but success is good to very good
Our lotus is the second cat  they have done and is responding very well although its early days , as did their other patient
It isn't just stem cell but shock wave therapy and blood platelets .
We are covered by insurance at least for now   but check as its far from cheap but I am happy FP have talked me through everything and given papers to read . It does have to done by a referral vet though and  not all are doing it yet

Thanks furriefriends.  He is insured but will have to check if this would be covered.

Interesting because as I read this,  I'd immediately thought OP needs a vet referral to him!!    But most would need a deep pocket, or insurance!

My own vet did say that they could do them, so not sure if it is the same thing, . These are injections of hyaluronic acid.

Yep  mamba I went for the insurance lol .pockets not so deep
No doubt  my  premiums will increase
Actually do was a very similar price to others but has more experience  and closer to me. I am not  big fan of him and the TV series  but certainly having seen itthe outfit face to face feel that we are getting good treatment at realistic prices all of which are explained without pressure we arnt actually under him as this is not his speciality  but another guy
We did nearly get in the background of filming but thank fully were able to duck that Not my thing at all
