Hi

A lot has happened since i posted last shortly after crufts. We spend a lot of time researching and spending time with the Grand basset Griffon Vendeen however after meeting them away from crufts we realised they were not for us and that hounds were not for us.

Before we lost diesel my husband has been dignosed with hyperacusis as he was getting pain in his ears when i would wash up, watching TV, when diesel barked ( kiara hardley ever barks) ect and he was dignosed with hyperacusis after tests ruled out other things. We knew he could get it as nealy everyone in his family has it.

On one of our walks ( before diesel passed)  we met a lovley dog that i had never heard of before and the owner told us as a breed there not barkers and would be ok for my husband. Her dog is a Eurasier and he was lovley great with kiara. We have since done further research and meeting more and really like the breed.

Im just still in disbelief that they are as quite as there owners make out with the samoyed being one of the dogs that created the breed when there known to be vocal , all the owners have told me there quite as a breed and that there only like 1\3 a samoyed and that  Eurasiers are a breed of there own.

Anyone know if they really are that quite?

Have u spoken to thebreed club ? If not the link is on here together with a breed description. Not just the standard.it does refer to barking and may help
I have met a few at shows and one in training  class. I agree seem nice dogs but I dont remember discussing barking :)

Read the link its says there quite indoors , i have spoken with the breed club who said the same and they gave me names of the owners in my area who would be happy to talk and iv spoken with all 4 in my area and iv met a few further afield who all said there quite.

The ones iv met some barked when we knocked on the door other didnt but even the ones that did soon stopped and settled down and were quite the whole time we were there.

I also looked on youtube and theres hardly any of them barking , i came across this video which i found interesting as theres a grouo of them and not one barked the whole time.

Yep , its between them or another lab , im leaning more towards the Eurasier as i love owning two different breeds. And the GSD is off only because they are too vocal. Im glad that my husband likes the Eurasier too , hes happy with either.

I think i am just in disbelief knowing the samoyed was one of the paraent breeds as there very vocal.

I agree given they have spits in their development I am surprised as well.
I think the thing to remember which is what they say in the info on the club us obviously they will vary
Hopefully if u have one it will be quiet and u can train as well .
I am sure brainless could help there if not a few others too
I might be worth hearing g them bark as different barks may affect your husband differently . My flat coat whoi hardly barks except if it's a fox has a Lovely deep single bark. Qyuye different even from my Mich bigger gsd bark Where as my pom xchi was very high pitched and continued with many barks at a time if not controlled

Hes fine with kiaras bark ( i think a lab would be similar to your flat coat) , the Eurasiers who barked when we knocked seemed deep simliar to kiaras and mu usbands ears were ok. Its mainly small dogs who seem to bother his ears or big dogs who are high pitched like rough collies or GSD's diesel could get high pitched at times.

Just wanted to update , we have met more eurasiers on a eurasier walk and there not for us , i wont go into detail but after talking with several owners there just not for us. One of the owners we spoke to said they know what suits us and what we said were looking for describes a certsin breed. We have since then met a few of that breed and are going on a walk soon and we feel more postive about this breed.

> there not for us

It is a good idea to meet lots of a breed in normal circumstances like walks with various types of owner/family.

This way as you have found it means you don't make a mistake that you could potentially have to live with for anything from 12 - 16 years.
