Hi all

Had my OEB scanned today 32 days since last AI. scan showed no pups but I was convinced she was pregnant, changed appetite, enlarged nipples (puffy at the base and changed in colour) also very clingy. She would off been a 1st time mum, stud is proven and we did 3 lots of AI. could it of been to early? Could the pups of been sitting behind rib cage?

Just wondered if anyone else had a negative scan and went onto have pups really. Guess il know for sure in a few weeks x

I'd be surprised if there were pups if none were seen at 32 days; that's pretty much perfect timing for a scan. Was it a vet or specialist scanner that did it? The teats do stay enlarged and with slightly changed colour after a season, especially around the base, so that doesn't need to mean anything. Change in appetite and being clingy - maybe she's having a phantom?

It was a specialist scanner who done it, I've never had a bitch go through a phantom. Is there anything I can do to help her if that is the case or just leave her be?

Yes, a friend of mine had a negative scan and produced 2 puppies after 9+ weeks - fit and healthy puppies

Indeed - by around the 7th week you would see them moving around.    Which, again (again), is why I don't bother with scans.   Even if I'd been told no puppies, I'd still be hoping and waiting.   I suppose I'm lucky not to NEED to know ahead of time - I just assumed and if nothing happened by the due date, get it confirmed empty by x-ray.   Which only happened once (missed)!!
