I have a small show kennel in the United States, I've com30 years in Alsatians - having given the large breeds up for health reasons (degenerative disc disease.) I have been studying the mini wire dachshund for six years now as an alternative breed...having spent most of my life in the "dog world" I can not imagine not having competition, companion animals. Four years ago I made my first purchase (of 3)...none of the three were of any quality to show therefore they were not up to standard for breeding. One was placed altered with my Sister in Law, one was killed at the handlers by one of her standard males (he'd just been pulled from the ring and was to be shipped home for altering and possible placement) and the third is with me as a companion(altered of course.)

My main complaint is the lack of honesty in bloodlines - the sharing of faults, correctness, the breeding against and for specific traits. In the Alsatians the information was plainly available on the pedigree as the Koreklause rating - there is no such information applied in the US...and breeders, I am finding are not very forthcoming with information.

As such I am broadening my search area. I currently have plans to import a CH bitch from Australia. However, one bitch - no matter how nicely turned she is, does not a kennel make.

If you do ship to the United States I would like to open discussions with you regarding your bloodlines and show quality exports.

I would suggest writing (with references) to the breed clubs here in Uk, asking for a breeders list. A subscription to one of the Canine weeklies Dog world or our Dogs (both have websites) would be useful, as you could follow the results, and read the critiques and get an idea of who the successful breeders are, and who may have the type you like!

the continenatal type is more on the leg than ours, and I have no idea what they are required to be like acording to AKC breed standard. A search engine like Google may help you find some UK Club or Breeder sites.
