Hi all I’m in need of opinions. I’ve got a miniature breed who is due to whelp any day now. Day 63 would have been on Wednesday going on when she tied, but I had her scanned and the lady said she wouldn’t have caught that day looking at the scan  and to add 2 days on to her due date, found on what she has said that will be tomorrow. She’s been off her food the beginning of the week and also been sick twice. But after 2 days she’s back to normal with eating, shes not really been nesting either. she’s just sleeping a lot. Her temp has been up and down all week aswell. She is losing mucus but not masses. I’m just worried as she’s so tiny only weighing 3kg pre pregnancy. I am going to take her to the vets first thing if nothing happens tonight. Any body had any similar experiences?

Did the scan give any idea of numbers? Are the puppies still active?

Yes She said 4 maybe more. All the puppies are still really active and can hear heart beats really clearly

I'm not sure what the problem is?  You're just waiting for puppies, and as so many other posters here, without progesterone testing to determine ovulation and without doing cytology to determine diestrus, you have a huge whelping window.  She could have conceived the same day you bred her, on the first breeding - or she could have conceived 5 days after her last breeding.  That leaves you with a huge whelping window and no way to determine when you are facing inertia or if anything is wrong.

Are you taking her temperature twice daily? In some bitches that can give a very clear indication when stage-one labour begins.

If you are worried you can get a reverse progesterone test done by your vet but doesn't sound like she's ready just yet.

It might be too late now but I start taking me girls temperatures twice a day around the same time about a week before their due date & without fail ( in 6 years ) a drop in temperature ( not by a huge amount ) always means they will go into labour usually within 12 hours sometimes a bit longer but never more than 24 hours.

I hope by the time you read this you’ve got a healthy litter of puppies & mums ok too
