So i just saw a advert for a show on channel 4 next week called my gay dog and other animals.

I felt sick , why are we even exploring this , dogs are not humans there is no such thing as a gay dog.

What are peopkes thoughts?

Im just so shocked. Even my sister who is gay was confused

I don’t know specifically about dogs, but many animals display sexual behaviours with their own sex with some individuals seeming to show preference for thr same sex.

That said I don’t think we can label an animal as gay or straight or bi or whatever - we can just describe its behaviour.

Homosexuality has been documented in hundreds of species, both in a sexual and non-sexual context, so actually, it is entirely possible!

And on a semi-serious note, I sometimes call Linc gay - he is far more fond of males than females on a companionship level.  He absolutely adored a previous foster and was completely heartbroken for weeks after he left.  I still regret rehoming that dog, for the hurt I caused Linc.

Nope, I don't contribute to any of this kind of behaviour as being 'gay'.   Yes a dog may adopt this behaviour when near a bitch in season (turned on) because he knows if he tries it with a bitch who isn't ready to be mated, he'll get told of in no uncertain terms.  Of course a fight might happen if he gets silly with another male tho.     Bitch on bitch I'd suggest could also happen when around other bitches in season.   But in that case I'd suggest it has more to do with dominance than sex.   As is more likely to be the case when it's male on male.

Sorry, but I can't go with any possibility of a dog being gay in the human sense of the word.

As for that programme, and thankfully I haven't seen any adverts for that yet ...... I WON'T be watching.  In fact I rarely watch such dog programmes because they are made for the general public, who don't KNOW much about animals, let alone dogs.   It only gets my BP up if I do
