Hi I have a bitch who’s started her season on the 6th may she stopped bleeding today 14th may I worked out anytime from today to the 18th she’s fertile?? But as I dont have any experience with mating I’m not sure if I have got it al wrong? Male is very willing trying to mount every chance he gets but she’s just not willing? She’s flirty and playful not aggressive at all just not letting him in! Any advice would be great thanks
Are they both experienced and proven? (Or are either of them?)
You are only on day 9, which is still quite early for dogs to breed. The 'on average' most common days, are days 11-15. So my hunch is it is too soon. She will not breed with him whilst in proestrus (at least most bitches won't). This is just a hunch though - none of us are psychic so the only way to determine timing, is to progesterone test...
Don't let them be together all the time - separate them and try daily for no longer than 30mins a time until you get a mating.
If you have no experience with mating, really you should have someone advising and mentoring you, who is...

Thank you for your advice this is the first time for my bitch and as far as I’m aware it’s first time for stud also. Will keep them separate for the next day or so and see how they go. Thanks again

As suggested, bearing in mind all bitches do differ, even the same bitch with another mating, it may be a touch too early. And some bitches flirt like mad but then refuse the male. Don't leave them together. If they live together, he could well be put off by previously being rejected and reluctant to get to his job. I have always felt they prefer to mate early morning, or late afternoon/evening too.
I realise you have probably chosen to use this dog, but it's usually easier if either isn't a maiden. Novice male to maiden bitch could be difficult! Is the sire of this dog available because most breeders would go to the successful stud dog rather than to a son.
I agree with MamaBas, it's usually suggested that a maiden bitch go to an experienced stud. And that an unused male gets an experienced (and 'easy') bitch for his first mating.
Two together who have no prior experience, is usually advised against...

Then you won't have any experience of whelping a bitch either. If something goes wrong, do you know enough to recognise inertia, so, possibly saving your girls' life by getting her to a vet in time? I am genuinely worried that you have the potential to put your girl at risk.

You did not state this on your opening post...advice can only be given on the info which is written in a post.
