Hello. This is my first post on the forum. I have a bitch that had a successful litter in 2016. She had a c-section. I decided to breed her again and did 3 matings. The last one was about a week ago. She has been on synulox 25mg twice a day since day 9 of her cycle (vet recommended) and will receive her last dose tomorrow morning. She had aborted a litter previously and since then she does not seem to carry a litter to term without 2 weeks of antibiotics.

I am however concerned as i have noticed a yellowish discharge every time she goes for a wee. It does smell strange but not overpowering and its also not alot. I cant get to the vet until tomorrow obviously but was wondering what it could be? No fever, she eats and drinks fine. No other issues seem.

Since she has already been on antibiotics, im not sure if the vet can assist with any other options?

Has anyone seen this and had a successful mating without problems?

Edit: I also forgot to mention, she was given bravecto for fleas yesterday.... which ive given to my pregnant dogs without any problems in the past

You state your bitch had a c section, for a litter back in 2016 & has had not carried any litters since. How many times have you tried breeding from this bitch, in the last 2.5/3 years?

Do what is right for your bitch & stop trying to breed from her & have her spayed, she is obviously not meant to be bred from..nature is trying to tell you something!!

What your describe is not normal.

I havent tried to breed her since her c-section in 2016 because i was looking for a top quality stud from different lines which i eventually found and imported.

Ill decide that for myself thanks. She is a champion import not just some mutt. She had 2 litters.

What i describe in my breed is actually not unheard of. But whatever i was just trying to ask if anyone else had similar issues. Clearly i came to the wrong forum.

If the discharge is off smelling then i would be taking her back to the vet. Something isn't right.

I said in my post i will be taking her to the Vet, but since it was late at night when i posted this, and since this is a dog forum where someone might have had similar experiences, i was just asking for some advise in the mean time until this morning. But thanks

This statement lead me to believe she has been tried more.

You will get honest replies here & not just from me, you may not like the replies but I also said that what is happening is not normal!

It doesn't matter if she was crufts best in show. Sometimes it just isnt right to try and breed from a bitch. Expecially as she has already had 2 litters.

Look, im a Breeder. I breed dogs. Most of my dogs are Champions and imported. Im not going to pay $5000 for a dog and not breed with her. If thats what you do then thats your choice. There is nothing wrong with letting a bitch have 3 litters. I worked closely with my Vet before making the decision to breed her a final time. My Vet said she might not have any problems this time round and its worth a shot. So we gave it a shot.

And as ive said before on this thread, i only posted for advise because it was late at night when i noticed the discharge and was hoping someone else had similar experiences.

Im not going to further debate my choices with all of you. Thats not why i posted. Breeders sometimes know a lot more than a Vet. From experience. Thats WHY i came here. But ok.
