Hello my dog gave birth to 4 pups on the 15th
I never had scales and they only arrived today
Their weights are
210g (7.4oz)
191g (6.73oz)
172g (6.06oz)
145g (5.11) (smallest when born )
They are chihuahuas and I just want to know if people think this is an ok weight for a 4 day old chihuahua they appear very big
Obviously I know it would help to be able to see the increase but they are very hungry baby's so I know they are all feeding haven't left them alone since they where born
Thankyou

Considering my Basset puppies checked in at around 16 - 18 oz and tended to gain roughly 2 ozs daily, those weights seem low to me

As long as they are feeding, content and putting on weight that's all you can expect so early in their little lives. All puppies grow at their own rate and it could be that they are gaining at the moment, and it will slow down at times later on. Do you have a mentor experienced with this breed?

It does sound very big to me. My labradorss are 300 to 400g on day 4!
I thought it was a bit big considering an adult dog weights between 2.5-6lb they are little pigs constantly trying to feed thankyou for a reply!
They are constantly trying to feed! Little pigs
I do have a mentor so I will contact him and get some more info when they was born he was very worried as they was so big all born breach and got stuck at one point they nearly all didn't make it from their sizes But we managed to get them all breathing etc and he has told me to never let her breed again as he hasn't seen them be born that big before thankyou for a reply

I see from your other post that this was an accidental mating. Are you sure the dad is the same breed or did she have access to other dogs?
They will feed constantly at this age, totally normal.
100 percent same breed both family pets they don't go out for walks as hate leads so they only have access to each other they are not very good with other dogs

but could another dog have got into your garden?
Na we fenced off half the garden for them so they couldn't get up the back of the garden or under any fences + they would go mad if they even heard another dog go past the front of the house
