When i was at crufts yesterday and we were doing a some shopping we saw a woman walking a dog ( i thought it was a Golden retriever) the owner of tje shopping stand we were loooking at asked if it was a hovawart and the owner said yes hes a Hovawart , i swear i thought it was a Golden it must be hard to tell the difference. I overheard the owner say that Hovawarts have a Low Boredom Threshold? Anyone know what that means in terms of dogs as i searched on google and all i got was what it means for humans so thought I'd ask here as iv never heard tjat term berfore?

Needs something to do . Needs Mental.stimulation. or a job that does more than just physical exercise agility obedience for example Won't deal.with being just left to do nothing for hours or it will  make it's own fun . And it's not usual what we humans would call fun often becoming destructive.
Many breeds are similar.
Hovawarts are quite a different breed to goldens even though the may look similar in some colours. Had a lovely one at training one year ,the owner who was training was asking boy and they worked really well together

Thanks Furriefriends , never heard that term before. So there like a GSD then needs loads of mental stimulation, apart from what you said above would mental stimulation include thongs like brain games, brain toys ect?

Yes but doing a dog sport is also great and something I would consider and have with dogs that like to be kept occupied. That way once tired they will be calm and settled
. it's often why people with working dogs  don't have the problems pet home can  ask tommee I bet his working collies are relaxed when they arnt working
. We often think all we need to do is take a dog for long walks and then all will be well but many want more than that and giving them activities like scent games and other stuff at home can often tire more than a long walk

my old weimaraner was what I would call bored easily. learnt things very quickly but easily bored of it and then would refuse to do required action unless something in it for her.  ie at puppy classes she mastered 'sit' instantly but saw no point in repeatably doing it just because rest of class did not learn so quickly.     she needed a mix of activities or would just look at you as a fool for asking for same thing twice in a row.
