Have just found this site
http://labrador.retriever.free.fr/index.php3?lang=en which has a searchable database and is fascinating for anyone looking into their Labrador Retriever pedigree.
Admin, if this is against the T&C feel free to remove it I won't be offended :) the site has nothing to do with me & I'm only posting this because others might find it interesting.

Hi There
I saw your message that you were looking for information on BRIENSCO Labradors. Who is the dog that is in your pedigree that you are wanting information about? I may be able to help you. You say you got your dog from Scotland. Where abouts in Scotland? as im also from Scotland and may be able to help you with other dogs information in the pedigree too.
Kind Regards
Pam

Wonderful site - I spent most of yesterday trawling through it . I am actually trying to find owners of chocolate decendants of the bitch Follytower Brownthorn, in the vague hope I might be able to find one from her line for myself. If anyone could point me in the right direction I'd be very grateful. Many thanks mattie, for your help. :-)

Follytower Brownthorn was the grand son of Follytower Merrybrook Black Stormer who was at the back of all my Labs WL! Of course, going back from there you get those fabulous dogs Tan, Tweed and Tandy. Still further is Glenhead Jimmy and of course 1932 and 1933 Crufts “Best In Show” Bramshaw Bob! A very distinguished line!
Best wishes, John

Hi John,
Just out of interest, have you ever heard of FTCh Berrystead Berry or FTCh Holdgate Willie?

Hi Jean.
Holdgate Willie is out of Wing of Ruckley by Holdgate Steven. Goes back to the great Hiwood Dipper and Galleywood Shot. Two famous field trials dogs (Also in my “Flower”)
Berrystead Berry is out of Berrystead Bee by Sendhurst Zelstone Tinker. (Again at the back of The Flower.
I suppose it’s not that surprising when you start multiplying up the number of dogs as the pedigree goes back. I can now get "The Flower" back to around 1890 but of course as the Lab has only been registered since 1903 the back dogs are all unregistered! These unregistered dogs were the foundations of the breed which ALL Labradors date back to.

Thanks for that, John! Those two were at the back of my dear old lab (unregistered, sadly) and she was smashing. One day, when we've space, another like her (she looked a little Drakeshead-y, if you see what I mean) would be lovely. :)

That's brilliant, Christine! Thanks! :)
Thats OK J/G :) It`s from the joebatsarm website.

Hi John, yes FTBStormer is behind just about every lab isn't he, what a great dog. He was my bitches G Sire on one side and GG grandsire on the other. I have found some children of Brownthorns - some of them Ch. but haven't got to the present day yet. There must be some - Is the Follytower kennel now disbanded as there doesn't seem to be a web site any more? What happened to all the Sandylands dogs too, when Mrs Broadley died? Just realising now how out of touch I am. I presume there are just still the 3 colours - LOL. At least now there are more chocs to choose from, when I got mine in 1983 she was supposedly the only one west of Cardiff, but dont know if thats true.

I believe Mr Garner Anthony is still involved with the Sandylands dogs as well Christine.
Best wishes, John
He is indeed John. :) I only said about what Gwen did did with her dogs.

The gr gr grand mother of my chocolate lab was Follytower Brownthorne. She was mated to CH Kupros Master Mariner and produced Follytower Brown Derby at Brenneil.

Westie Lover, does this help? You've probably already seen it though!

Thanks to all for the info and links. I am still ploughing through all Brownthorns descendants, it such fun, have nearly got to the present day now and have found that there may be one in Swansea which would be really lucky, but I dont think the owner breeds chocs. Its lucky she only appeared to have a couple of litters or it would take me months! It doesn't have to be a Brownthorn descendant of course but thought it was a good place to start - with a kennel which bred great labs not just good chocs! I cant believe I was so lucky that just when I needed this info the original post was made! Back to the data base!!
