We have a 8 day old puppy with Diarrhea, I had the vet come out yesterday who gave antibiotics and probiotics. The Diarrhea seemed to clear up so I carried on with antibiotics but left out the probiotic. Today pup has Diarrhea again, I’ve given the pro biotics but I am worried about dehydration, could I give him liquid life aid or should I get the vet out again, even though I don’t know what else the vet can do. It’s not like water but there’s lots of it, he only does it when I stimulate him, it’s a greenish colour. He’s from a litter of 10 and threat are fine

Why are you stimulating him and not leaving mum to do it? Best thing is to ensure he gets plenty of fluids - from mum!

If you worry about dehydration, gently pinch the skin and see how rapidly it returns to usual position - just as you would in an adult dog.  A vet can give subcutaneous fluids.  But really if he is drinking from mum and gaining weight, he should be fine.

My first question would have been:  "Is Mum eating anything unusual?"  Even though the other pups are OK, this one might be sensitive to something in Mum's menu.

Antibiotics can CAUSE diarrhea, so perhaps they worked initially and then became contraproductive..?  As to probiotics:  I've never experienced any positive effects from any of them.
