Hello everyone, So glad I've joined you all.
I wondered if you can help, I am looking for a BC Dog as closely looking to our family dog when I was younger. Male, long haired, B&W puppy, with the white stripe down the nose. does any beeeder have any currently available or know someone that may?
We are in Cornwall and right on the beach! and do not mind travelling for the right boy

Assume this is the breed your after.. https://www.champdogs.co.uk/breeds/border-collie/puppies

You can also contact breed clubs which should be able to help.

Definitely where I'd be looking although if you are in a rural area, your local newspaper may produce information about locally bred BC litters.

Do make sure both parents are fully health tested. Depending on type you can find working type ones advertised on agilitynet. Do your research though

Are we really recommending this method on this site?!

This is the way I did it for my first dog (BC) when I knew no better. Very dog aggressive and temperamental with some people, a bag of nerves, arthritic by a few years old and died prematurely from a brain tumour. Whilst I acknowledge I got pretty unlucky with having so many problems, surely we reduce the risks we can and point people towards responsible breeders who are producing reliable temperament and, to the best of their ability, good health.

Don't know who recommended local newspapers, they are usually the source of unhealth tested parents litters unless you are lucky. Most of the pups I have bought have been though recommendation or research into various breeders & contacting them directly.

Of course I'm NOT recommending using local newspapers WITHOUT GOING TO SEE THE LITTER FIRST, meet the breeders and see mum..... as would always be the case regardless of the source.  Jeez.   People are soooo quick to jump

Noting that this OP lives down here in Cornwall.  This is relevant.

Problem is once a litter is seen, and if a purchaser is not knowledgeable they can easily end up with a pup with no health testing, and possibly unsuitable temperament.

So research the breed health tests required via the breed clubs, and only contact those breeders who have carried out all relevant tests.  There is no good excuse not to (unless the dogs are hereditarily cleared, and then you should se both parents results).
