I've been hand rearing a sharpie staff cross pup from a day old so far been so easy but last few days he's been very constipated and has struggled to poop. I could use some advice vet will not intervene untill a few more days has passed. Does any one have any tips or hints the pup is now 13 days old and other than this is amazing been a few years since I last hand reared though so any advice would be great thank you.

A few drops of liquid paraffin can move things along taken orally.

I will try that soon he's started to pass liquid poop so I think it's softened up after a glucose water bottle

One of our girls was a nightmare when it came to getting her brood to pooh.   She was fine with pee but the other was really beneath her with the result her puppies were really quite uncomfortable early on.   I'd spend hours sitting in the box with a damp cloth trying to copy what mum should be doing.  Without much success.   I even tried sitting them in warm water to try to get things moving.   Eventually gravity took it's course but this was her first, and definitely last litter, even if she did give me two really good puppies in the litter, to keep.

If the puppy is 13 days and obviously moving around more, BMs should begin to happen with the extra exercise.   I'd be careful re using a lax however.

Put a tiny drop of olive oil on his belly and massage him there gently.  You also need to do the same on his anus, just like his mum would...

Gave him the glucose water and then a drop of califig and it's sorted now back to normal thankfully
