Good Morning All,

My puppies are 19 days old and I have just completed the 1st round of worming at days 14 , 15 and 16 using Panacur 10%.
In the last 24hrs I have noticed they seem to be constipated. They were pooping loads before and now hardly any! Should I be concerned? Aside from the lack of poop they are feeding and seem to sleep well. Tummies dont feel hard either. Thanks

If they are comfortable and not cramping they are probably fine.   However worming 3 days in a row?   Of course you are not using the wormer I used (Sherleys syrup) but that was given every two weeks, starting at week 2.   And just the one dose.

Panacur 10% is 3 days in a row as standard.

They seem content. They dont seem to be in any discomfort. This is our 1st litter so unsure what the "norm" is but seems  unusual to go so long without going to the toilet. My other concern is , if they are not constipated could it be because they are not getting enough milk? They are nursing and falling asleep with mum which makes me think they are but tummies dont seem to look really full like they did in the early days.

Just to say again that the clue is how the puppies are behaving.   If they are quiet and only noisy when feeding, you could be able to be sure they are ok.   If they are noisy, no.  Could be that now you have wormed them their tummies won't look as 'bloated' as before?   Are they gaining daily?

Whether they are gaining weight is your clue to whether they are healthy - that, and whether they look like contented new borns.

I wouldn't assume they are constipated just because you haven't seen any stools - most mothers are quite quick to eat poos....
