has anyone any  Collo cal D ?  I'm trying to find out type of calcium it contains and the strength   (how much calcium you are giving per dose)

I have a lactating bitch who is having calcium problems, and trying to find the best bioavailable high strength supplement

Calo Cal D was what a bitch I whelped for a friend was prescribed as she had been unwell prior to whelping and eating poorly and very low in calcium resulting in secondary inertia, and eventually C section for half her pups, and was prescribed it in double dose.

I have just talked to the manufacturer and found out that it has less calcium per ml than goats milk (by nearly a factor of 10!).

For the record, I was told that it has 0.13mg/ml. For my girl (30kg) the recommended dose of 1ml per KG would give me 0.390mg/day.

That would do nothing for my girl who was heading towards eclampsia.. I need to give her between 5000-10,000 mg a day.. so she'd have to drink at least 10 litres of the stuff to get enough calcium for her condition...
