Hi all,
So my little 13 week old Akita Yoshi has been sick upon waking up first thing in the morning at 7am.
He’s done this about 4 times now over the last two weeks and in that time I thought it might help to change his feeding times from 8am and 5pm (2 scoops per time), to 8am, 12, 3pm and 6pm (one scoop per time).
This made no difference. So I tried back on 8 and 5 but then feed him again two scoops at 10pm half hour before bed.
Again made no difference. I turned to making him some chicken and rice at the least above times for two days and again no difference atall.
I get his food specifically blended for his breed and age from tails.com (now I was told they wasn’t good but they have a far higher meat content than any food I’ve seen on the market before going to raw food).
His ingredients are 237grams daily,
66% total meat - 64.3% chicken, beet pulp, brown rice, maize, while dried egg, 2.2%salmon oil, dried yeast, chicory extract, nucleotides (from yeast), potassium chloride, natural preservatives, giucosamine, hydrochloride, chondrotin, sulphate, yucca extract and dried marigold.
He’s loved eating this stuff from 8weeks old and each month I update his weight and they change his formula to suit his growing.
Now I took him to the vets this morning for them to check up, he was fine as I thought, no issues and they took his bloods as a precautionary step to make sure there’s nothing in the background causing it. They also gave me some capitals to give him along with some gastro food to trickle feed him.
Anyone have any experience in Akita’s being sick (balf) as soon as they wake up?

Tails are a commercial comoanyit's not usual to alter food regularly if a food is suiting sounds like marketing. Did this start when an alteration was made ? If so maybe something isn't suiting in the new mix. Tails are relatively new to the market and if the above changes don't help I would look at another food possibly one of the cold pressed kibbles with few ingredients if u don't want to do raw.what did his breeder use ?
Hi, I’ve tried it, I’ve even fed him just chicken and rice at bedtime, makes no odds what he eats he seems to wake up extremely hungry to the point he’s sick instantly.
Last night I fed him rice n chicken at 12 midnight and he was sick as soon as he woke at 7am.
I think they fed him just pedigree dry food.
No change to what’s in the mix from tails but portions have changed and change again this week.

We have occasionally had this with our hounds - either during the night or first thing before breakfast. The Basset I currently have started this and I 'cured' it by giving him half a normal can of tinned Chappie at around 10 pm, literally just before he goes to bed.
I'd suggest that your puppy would do best having Breakfast at around 7 am, lunch around noon, the third meal before 5 pm and a small last evening meal, before bed. For now. He may be ready to have lunch dropped (even if I'd not do that yet) but if you do, you should up the amount of the remaining food, correspondingly.
Puking aside, you should be able to feel the ribs, but not see them. And always talk to your breeder, assuming he/she is experienced with his breed and bloodlines.

I do wonder how someone who has never seen a particular dog can decide what its ration should be. I do weigh my dogs food as they are veterans and I am trying to maintain a steady weight, but I am able to make adjustments based on their activity levels, and the way they actually look - sometimes a little less, sometimes a little more. I'm not criticising but asking, could the lack of personal contact with the dog cause a problem in arrangements such as Tails?
Update:
Bloods came back fine, the gastro intestinal food they said to try has made him seriously gassy and this morning he was sick again even after putting his good upto 319grams with water added to slow his eating.
I’m at a loss as he’s now reluctant to eat anything
