Whats better?
Deter which are pills or Forbid which is powder?
Which one is better and works the best?
The Forbid will cost me $3.45 and I will need about 5 packages, and the Deter will cost $13.99 for 60 pills. I have 4 boston's which weigh about 18 to 24 pounds, and Taz who was last weighed at 141 pounds. How much would they need each?
Who has used these and found which one works the best? The Deter I would get in a pet shop and the Forbid at my vet clinic if that makes any difference.
Does this have any side effects on the dogs like make them sick or something, or am I just being over worried? :(

I know so many questions, but if any one can answer them I would be very greatful, thankyou.

Some years ago we had a dog who regularly 'snacked'. We mentioned this when we were collecting him after a stay in kennels. We were told that pineapple chunks would stop him. My immediate reply was 'But I am not quick enogh - he has eaten it before I can put the pineapple chunks in it!'.

Seriously though - my understanding is that the citric acid makes it very unpleasant for the dog to 'snack'. We did not in fact try this out as the dog grew out of it and stopped the habit a short time afterwards.

Pinapple is high in digestive enzymes (which is why it's so good with pork - it help digest it.....) So maybe your dog was short in it's digestive system in some way, which the pineapple compensated for? I used to have a poo eater - and I found some 'breath fresh' tablets which contain an enzyme - they also stopped her poo eating.......

Well Iam doing the pinapple now, but was just wondering incase this does not work. I gave Taz 6 chunks, and the boston's each 4 chunks of pineapple. They were the pineapple that was all ready cut up. Was that too much, and how often should I give it too them (1 or 2 a day) and for how many days?
Thank you all so much. :)
Like poo isn't yucky enough :D

Charlie was a rampant muncher when we first got him - he does seem to be growing out of it now (nearly 22 weeks), but still has the odd lapse!!

The first few weeks, it was a nightmare - we were *constantly* (and i do not over emphasise here!) watching him in order to get his doings cleaned up before he could get to them. We became a bit worried in the end, as several years ago my dad had a terrier who was a poo eater (not just his own, everything it could get its chops round!) and it developed some awful infections and had to be pts. We asked the vet, who suggested putting minced chillies on his poo, and leaving it down, so that he would soon get the idea. So we got home, let him poo, and slapped some chillie down. Charlie approached it, sniffed, tasted it and sat back - then licked his lips and went back for more!!!!! Unfortunately my pup seems to have exotic tastes :)

I tend to find that Charlie does it in 'cycles' tho - i.e he wont do it for a while, and then we have to watch him for a few days, because every time he goes in the garden, he comes back with poo smeared all over his face - not pleasant when its all mashed into a Lhasa Apso's 'moustache' :( I'm going to try the pineapple next time he has a spell!

I havne't laughed so much in ages....

Our pup is indeed a poo eater and no matter how quick we are its gone before we can get to it..... Think we'll try the pineapples soon....

what brand were the fresh breath biscuits that worked?
