Hi, any advice on what's important or comparisons if you've changed?

My boys are only small but one isn't fully house trained (and probably never will be  2 yrs now) so lots of washing!

I'm thinking a high spin for faster drying;  large capacity (for my bedding as well as theirs - though it's usually the same

Continued as it wouldn't post it all
A+++ for energy efficiency?
I can only afford 2nd hand/refurbished so I don't have as much choice as if buying new and wondered what you think is most important for a doggy house.

I like 1400 spin large capacity and also a quick wash .seems to cover most things. Oh and a bag for doggy washing to prevent hairs going everywhere. Highest rating for economy u can find also

Now WHY didn't I think of doing that - how many times have I had to crawl around on my knees, draining the tub and cleaning the filter!!!   Brilliant.

I have a Panasonic, 8K load with 1400 spin.   It seems to swallow most of my laundry - as in is big enough for our needs.   Puts me in mind of a little 8 week puppy buy in who had a wee problem and kept my machine working 24/7 - nightmare.

Mambas if u look up horse ( no u arnt washing  the horse lol ) wash bags they come in different sizes ideal for.the job

I’ve got one of these and it’s really good for trapping dog hair etc. With vet bed I use a rubber glove to stroke off excess hair before putting it into the wash bag and into the machine. You get very experienced about dealing with excess dog hair after owning golden retrievers

Thanks both for the tip(s).   And actually Basset fur is no joke, especially if they are the kind with a thick undercoat and not the French Basset coat.  My current boy is an open tri and boy do those 'white' hairs get everywhere.   Especially if the car has basically black carpeting.     That's another plus for Whippets although when she is shedding her short hair does make itself known.

My Golden only sheds twice a year ..... For the first six months and the second  six months!  lol.

I feel your pain GoldenFrenzy - having had a couple myself.  Having (had) an Elkhound is completely different -about 2 x year when they seem to shed for  month and it seems like they lose their own weight in hair - it's actually quite satisfying especially as they need little grooming in between, other than a daily brush.
My current 2; a Papillon and Pip who's best described as a Beddy Whippet don't moult much, but more regularly.

I have had a Bosch for 9 years and it copes with the dog bedding. even the Turtle mats go in it. Look up WHICH to find a Best Buy. These are the Bosch but lots of others

The second one is among the cheaper range

I have had two Bosch washing machines, one basic budget one bought in 2000, given to my brother in 2007 and still going strong though noisy.

I have had the current 6kg load Bosch Classixx 1200 Express since Jan 2007, never gets blocked despite dealing with up to 6 Elkhounds worth of washing and hair covered clothes and mats.

I have a bosch too, 8kg one and its perfect for floor runners, dog bedding. Occasionally gets blocked but easy to empty out, normally if something else has blocked it like a bit of a stick they've brought in

As I see you say you’re looking for a second hand or reconditioned machine I was thinking that if you possibly can consider a new one as that way you get a years guarantee. I see the co op has has a shop on e bay with a 7 kg beko  at £175 . Currys also has an eBay shop with an 8 kg machine at£199.
Our beko regularly copes with  about 20 loads a week .

The thing which is at the top of my list is NO BLEEPER - the current one bleeps on and off for what seems like ages when it comes to the end of the cycle, and my younger dog then leaps up from where ever he's asleep/resting/gardening and rushes into the kitchen barking wildly until I drop what I'm doing to go and turn the thing off.  Actually, it's the top three things on my list ....

(To be fair, he tells me I trained him to "alert me" by going to turn the machine off when it bleeps.)

My Panasonic gives 5 beeps and then stops.    On the other hand my Zanussi stove timer beeps on and on and on until I get up to shut it off! 

If you want to protect your BP, do NOT buy anything from Currys, especially online (although perhaps via their Ebay shop might produce a better service?).   I bought a new chest freezer, ordered on September 30.  A week after delivery it was clear it was faulty with a build up of frost around the lid.  Engineer came out and couldn't work out why so he recommended an exchange.  I called Currys (and trying to get through to a person is a nightmare - emailing them is worse) to check they'd be collecting the faulty one and replacing it, to be told that model (black - Logik) was out of stock but would be in a week later.  Not hearing anything further I phoned, again to be told that model wasn't being restocked!!  Meanwhile I had to nudge them again to pick up the fault unit.  Cutting this short, having opted for a refund, we are still waiting on that!  And to rub salt in the wound, I note that model IS now in stock .........................   I have bought elsewhere (from Argos) and at least that company cares about providing a service.

My Bosch allows u to turn off the ended beeper .it's not the most expensive one  and is a few years old now.
Also John Lewis do  free  2 year guarantee with their products and are pretty competitive and will do price matches so worth considering .Also free delivery.
I've found them easy to deal.with so much so I try and avoid buying elsewhere

Just to add, buy from Argos!!!   As posted earlier, after our experience with Currys I would/can't recommend them.   The rebate was finally paid today.   On the other hand the new chest freezer was delivered by Argos who phoned 1 hour ahead of delivery time, came on time, unpacked and took the packing away.   All done with good humour.   I now have to crank it up (it has to be left for up to 4 hours to allow it to settle) ... hopefully it will work!  A plus for this slightly smaller one is it had a lid light + is on wheels. 

I think it must depend on where you live and the efficiency of the curry’s near you. I’ve bought all my appliances from curry’s (bar 1) and they’ve been really good, installed it really quickly and phoned an hour before delivery and the washing machine is a Samsung one, which I must say is excellent - I have only had it two years with no trouble but I know it’s only early days really. That’s just for our washing though, I have another washing machine in the garage that I use solely for the dogs stuff...after having seen and helped with my mentors litters along with the first few of my own I realised forking out for a second washing machine is worth it when for the last 4 weeks the machine is being used almost constantly to wash vetbed and dirty toys etc. The dogs washing machine, as I like to call it, was bought and delivered from AO and they were even better than curry’s - they give you an hours time slot the morning of delivery and the installers obviously do work for AO but need a good rating from customers in order to get bonuses so they are extremely nice and will help with any queries! I’m also on a plan with AO where I pay £5 a month for 5 years and if anything goes wrong that isn’t under the 2yr guarantee then they’ll come out to fix it free of charge or if they can’t fix it/there’s no point then they will replace it for no extra cost - something which I think is great to have personally as I don’t feel concerned if I need to add a couple extra towels to the load

Meant to say the AO one is a Beko wm and is excellent - the Samsung one was pricier and I can honestly say that there doesn’t seem much of a difference, the washing comes out sweet smelling in both, the only difference is the Samsung is slightly quieter. And the both do a beep to say it’s finished but then stop.

You have my sympathy!!   FINALLY the refund was on my CC account yesterday!   Keep at them.  Interestingly I was telling the men from Argos about Currys and they said they seem to be picking up a lot of work from Currys at the moment ......  Hum.
