hi guys.......just to clear up something normal hips do not change with age...ofa has done studies involving dogs that were x-rayed several years after certification,no changes........they do them at two because its a 95 percent confidence rate.,the five percent that showed changes were in the lowest phenotype catagory''fair''.......but many many dogs are certified later than two i have a friend who just got an ofa excellent on a five year old german import.shepherd.[only 5.6excellent].......i had one at 40 months.and recently got an elbow number on a 75 month lab.....i will tell you in the country the british dogs are notorius for throwing bad elbows,.......go to www.offa.org....this is the global model for orthopedics

Hi Tracy, re your bit about not many vet`s will let you have the xrays. Under the data protection act vets are now obliged to hand them over to you if you want them :)
Christine, Spain.

Hi Christine,
I believe we have always paid for the plates etc etc and should have been able to have them back, I've never had a problem at this vet, but many vets still retain the plates..despite everything.

Barbara,

Knew I'd find this (old!) thread somewhere .......... have you got contact details for the vet in Southampton who hip scores under sedative by any chance, please? Really must get on and get my youngster's hips done ......

Many thanks,
Marina

I don't but a friend of mine in Southampton does. I think she is listed here, her Kennel name is Yggdrasil, if she isn't under Elkhounds on the main site, email me and I will give you her phone number.

OK, sorry, next question .........

Have spoken to the lady, she runs clinics on set dates as you probably know - next one is the day before a Champ show, do you think this would be an issue. She says they may be drowsy that day, but should be fine the next - anyone have any experience of this. (Might actually be a bonus if the boy was a bit drowsy the next day :D)

Me again, I'm not stalking you honest :D I've had about 5 there and you won't really see any affect to them at all. A Champ Show next day will be fine :-)
