Scottish breeders/exhibitors please contribute to this. It’s the only chance we have to have our say.

I’m disappointed no one has commented on this. Please do read it and give your opinions Scottish breeders, it’s the only time we can have our say and hope for a fairer outcome than those south of the border.

I was a bit gobsmacked regarding Rabbits, which really are livestock, bred for meat as well as pets and show.

They naturally breed frequently, in the wild would have a litter every month.  If they are not in condition they will absorb so setting artificial limits is a bit strange.

I did give my feedback and shared the life out of the Scottish consultation questionnaire. The standards of welfare must include human interaction walks and one litter per year. This is minimum also inspections should be unannounced and freezer and bin checks for ‘non declared defected dogs’?
Atrocious heinous act is breeding. A complete ban on breeding should be in place until we aren’t putting perfectly healthy dogs to sleep in the uk.

So where are we to source carefully bred dogs from parents that have been health, temperament tested and typical of their breed?

Do we and the dogs not deserve to have dogs bred with care, with the maximum chance of being sound in body and mind?

The majority of dogs in rescue are there due to lack of responsibility of either the breeder or owner.

Decent breeders home carefully, and take back and rehome dogs they have bred, so not fuelling the rescue problem.

As all puppies should be microchiped with the breeders details since April 2016 it should be perfectly possible to identify where they originated, and I can bet that very few will have come from decent breeders, unless without their knowledge.

Why will most rescues refuse to work with the breeder?  or breed specific rescue??.

A lot of dogs in UK rescues are not local, very many in the large charities are imported from Ireland and other countries.

My friend was distraught to find out a young dog she bred had ended up in one of the main rescues along with his companion.  Their owner had died unexpectedly.  They had all the dogs paperwork including the contract that he should come back to her, all the details of his parents health tests etc.  they would not let her have the dog back, or even pass on all the health data and her details to a new owner.

So all breeding is stopped, no guide dogs, no service dogs, no sheepdog s etc etc forever ?? or do you envision rescue mongrels being used instead. Of course these mongrels will be totally healthy & be able to be trained to work in place of the dogs that are no longer bred won't they ??

Obviously a EDEN(eliminate dogs everywhere now) acolyte believing that by stopping ALL breeding will solve the"dog"problem once & for all.

I have yet to see a rescue mongrel being able to work stock, guide a blind person, arrest a criminal etc etc etc but hey who needs these dogs. I've owned rescue mongrels who all had a myriad of health problems & certainly  could never become a working dog. Looking the number of bull crosses types that fill most rescues I would never let one near my rare breed flock & I can't see them being effective guide/service/services dogs either.

If you own a dog then someone BRED it otherwise it would not exist would it ?

This has to be a troll or a PETA supporter. Otherwise, why put these sentiments on a serious showing/breeding/working dog  forum?

This topic appears to have been shared to the champdogs Facebook page so will attract a lot of randoms. Hopefully more  positively engaged breeders will also see it and maybe comment on the consultation.

Would you say the same about people.

There are children without parents in the UK Social care system, should we stop having babies until there are no more?

Taken further as with the importation of rescue dogs from abroad, should we be bringing in all the homeless children on the streets in poor countries and ban people from having children here???

After all the world is over populated.

I do not advocate any of the above, but it is the over simplistic rhetoric of many pro rescue and anti breeder people.
