Ok, so having thought Plaque Off was the next best think to sliced bread, I now find I’m not quite of the same view any more. I’ve been using it through the summer with good results, then my six year old started rubbing her face and the fur there thinned noticeably and the skin beneath was red and sore. As it’s been hot I assumed it was above average moulting because of the heat, but as it got cooler, nothing changed and she started to look patchy. So, anyway, off to the vets we went, treated for demodex, no change. Tried a special shampoo three times a week in case it was fungal, no change. So.... this week she’s had blood tests and skin scrapes all of which have been normal. Except for thyroid function. Which brings me to the Plaque off, it’s seaweed based and has an iodine content of 0.08%, the label states it’s not recommended for dogs with thyroid issues. So now I feel that I’m to blame and my poor girl has had a raft of tests she needn’t have had. So did the Plaque Off cause the issue or highlight a minor issue that was lurking beneath? I don’t know yet - waiting for some further results. Fortunately, I stopped using it about a fortnight before we went to the vets, so it should have cleared her system. I thought it worth mentioning in case someone else is experiencing the same.
