Just looking for ideas to generate potential breed events. We have an Open Show each year, working event and a Meet the Breed Day. What other sorts of things could be held to encourage Breed enthusiasts to come to a 'day out'.
The MTB day covers lots of stuff, various dog disciplines, fun dog show etc
Would like to encourage owners to join the Society and enjoy a day out into the bargain. Particularly Pet Owners as most show and working people know about us. Small Committee so needs to beast enough to organise. Any thoughts appreciated. Thanks in anticipation.

Quite a few years ago Daughter and I went severral times to a BAD (Big Active Dog) day, think Leos Newfs, Mastiffs etc - our GSD & Rott were smallest there. Fun show etc but also 'find your mum' where someone held dog behind a screen and 'mum' went down the course which had some bushes, table on its side, small 'igloo' tent etc and hid. You called your dog ONCE and then it had to find you, couple of 'lost souls' wombling round inside the fence and 1 or 2 obviously thinking 'I will sit here - you will find me eventually
Other things fastest recall, retrieve the sausage, recall ignoring the sausage/toy etc
ETA also ducking apple type game with tennis balls - timed for 30 secs/1 min

Fastest recall over jumps was very popular at our fun day, and is easily set up with two lengths of orange netting, and agility jumps, or bales of hay. It does need a timekeeper and someone to do the recording though. If your ground is big enough - a mini CaniX course tests the humans speed too!

Thank you. I think my post may have been confusing.... I am looking for ideas to run a separate event completely. These ideas are great for our Meet the Breed but looking for something different to run as a one off event

Something like a 'Pointer Potter' (breed walk) followed by a picnic or barbeque?

A breeder in our breed Sharon use to organise breed weekends. She would book a campsite and owners would either camp in tents, stay in the sites glamping pods or caravan there. It was close to a beach so owners would go down in groups together or alone and one evening there was a big bbq where everyone brought food. Some local owners would come for the bbq rather than staying.
Another owner had arranged a herding taster day in the same area at the same time so owners could also do that as well.

I was always a good weekend.
