Ryslip are another company who deal with imports and exports, or did. We used them to import from the UK into Canada (or rather his breeder die) and it all went without a hitch, London to Toronto. I would wonder whether, by the time you've driven across to Amsterdam, maybe having an overnight stay? and driven back how much any saving would be. And what about the ongoing travel for your puppy? It might be better, for him to be flown into the relevant UK airport, picked up by you and driven straight to his new home?
When we came back to the UK with our hounds, from Canada, Pet Passport wasn't in effect, so our hounds had to go into quarantine which meant we did all the booking, using British Airways (usually better to use the airline of destination) and once delivered to Cargo in Toronto (we were able to stay with them until they were loaded) it all just happened. The Q.kennels picked them up over here. We'd sent them on ahead so they weren't worried by the house-packing. I can't remember re any import tax but it wasn't a cheap event overall!
