Topic Dog Boards / General / Liability insurance only

As we have recently increased our number of dogs again I would like to change from paying for regular insurance, to using my savings in case of large medical bills. I will continue with my elderly boy as he has ongoing issues which are covered but it’s becoming prohibitive with the other three.  However I would like to continue with 3rd party liability cover. I’ve found a policy through ‘bought by many’ and wondered whether anyone else had used them, or found a liability only policy through someone else? I have read confusing things about the cover offered through the Dog’s Trust membership so have looked elsewhere.

I would like to add I have had some large claims over the years so do appreciate the security of insurance, but in a multi dog household it’s a lot of money every month!

Dogs trust membership gives u the cover u want for price of their annual membership as u know.  .having spoken to dog law it is one of the best for just 3rd party. as they are group membership policies underwriting isn't necessary and gives u good cover.i assume barge claims u mean medical bills not 3rd party ?

Sometimes a basic House Insurance will cover that - check your policy.

I know what it is to have multi-dogs re insurance, which is why we never carried any.   We had understanding vets who would let us stage pay if necessary!   And even now, with just 2, when I took a few quotes, they left me thinking I want INSURANCE, not to buy the companies.   And one of my two isn't an especially at risk breed either.

Oops yes, sorry should have said that the claims were for medical bills!

Thank you, I will go back to Dogs Trust and read everything very carefully. At the moment I am paying out nearly £400 a month just on insurance premiums and three of those I have never claimed on, and don’t have a ‘high risk’ breed (I don’t have Clumbers anymore!).

I've had to go down the dogs trust policy hence conversation with dog law.seems to cover what I needed and is often recommended if u don't have health insurance or don't think your home insurance is applicable .not sure I would want to use my home policy as if the worst happened the premiums to insure  my house could be astronmic
