Hi i have a 1 1/2 yr. old female  nd she on her 3rd heat she started her heat on the 27th nd i didnt know about when they ovulate and when shes suppose to breed so on the 30th i took her with a stud nd she let herself but the male was to tall nd didnt work i took her again on the 2nd and again the same thing so the owner told me to take her on the next day so i did nd we left her over night. The owner says he didnt hear her complain during the night so that he thought it  didnt work but she came back home with a bit on her nose nd under her chin i dont know if anything happen.. today we took her with another male her size nd she snaped at him nd didnt let herself the male did want to but she wasnt leting him.. tomarrow will be the 9th day on her heat but i dont know if she would let herself if we try tomarrow or is it to soon should i let her cool down nd go on the 11th day??

Firstly I would ask yourself why you want to breed with her, there are so many of your dog's types in rescues, secondly has she had the health tests for the breed, I would also suggest that if you don't know much about the mating process then perhaps you should do some research into dog breeding, especially whelping and raising a litter. I personally would never ever leave a dog and bitch alone during mating, you seem to be saying that your stud dog owner left them together overnight which I find horrifying, both partners are at risk of damage from fighting.  Maybe you would consider waiting as your bitch is still rather young and learn all you can before taking on the risks and expenses of breeding.

In my opinion she's far too young to be bred from. Also has she had health tests done? Kennel Club list for Siberian Huskies reccomends hip and eye tests I am assuming she is a Sibe?

Also I would never leave a dog and bitch alone. You are lucky that all her injuries were slight it could have been a lot worse

Just a heads up to people. Profile indicates poster is in the USA.

So?    You do realise there are some extremely good breeders outside the UK!!

And for me, as long as this bitch has had all the relevant testing for her breed, mating on the 3rd season isn't necessarily wrong - 2 years or 3rd season, whichever comes first?

Clearly however, this potential breeder doesn't have a clue, and nor does the owner of the stud dog - to leave the two ALONE when the bitch was only in the first week of her season too - unbelieveable!  What a horrible experience for this poor young bitch.

She won’t have because of your first question- OFA won’t rate finals for hips/elbows until 2 years old.

And I’m pretty sure Tommee wasn’t saying there aren’t any good breeders outside of the UK, but highlighting the potential for differences between standard practises, resources etc.

Thanks. Yes that was my point. No good advising re UK standards when the breeder is abroad especially when their(well one of them)registration & main health testing body require dogs to be a different age to those here in the UK for the health checks to be done.

Sadly too many of the breed are in rescues all over the world bred not for improving the breed but for cash

:grin:   I knew I was going to be in for it if I wrote what I did in my last post here.    No surprise there eh.  People do take themselves very (way too?) seriously

Your last paragraph was particular pertinent  especially to those who may read later looking for info.
Making an assumption but I assume if she can't be scored at this age in the USA ergo she is too young to breed anyway

Sheesh, how completely irresponsible.

Please go and learn more about how to be a responsible breeder.  NB:  That means spending years learning about it, not actually doing it and subjecting your dog to all your mistakes.

If you're in the US then she is too young to be mated. She needs all her health clearances first.
Is she AKC registered? Is she on limited register if she is?

You need to find yourself a good mentor in Siberian Huskys. What about the breeder who bred your girl?

2 years minimum is what you're looking for in breeding a large breed and once they've passed the health tests.

Maybe contact your local breed club for advice as well.

Never ever leave a dog and bitch alone to be mated like that again. They need supervising during matings to ensure neither gets injured. Its quite possible she isn't ready so dont keep trying with different males.

Do this properly and responsibly. Get someone in your breed to guide you
