Something I've noticed with my dog is he will only ever cock his right leg to pee. He will turn around if the object of his desire is located on his left side so he can use his right leg. I have never, ever seen him cock his left leg.

Just a fun curiosity question

Yes, mine's the same - right leg. Doesn't often lift it very high off the ground though.

He must be part Basset!!   My Basset tends not to life either leg - he knows he's never going to be able to hit the heights other dogs can, so in typical Basset fashion, he simply doesn't bother!!

Left leg, this is possibly related to the fact that most dogs consistantly circle either left or right before lying down and settling :-)

Both legs, sometimes lifting one leg then turning round to lift the other, presumably if a tree has scents he really wants to cover. He will even cock a leg to poo sometimes when out on a walk but crouches normally in the garden.

Usually the left leg. Several approaches to make sure he is correctly positioned - and then he misses! Same with the poos, after all his digging and  scattering they are still there for me to pick up!
