So pups are getting microchips this week but one hurt it’s paw so took it today just to get checked it was okay and vet done her chip at same time. They have gave me the pack for identichip do I register as a breeder just now so I can then transfer over to new owners when they go to new homes. Last time I had pups the vets done it all for me

The implanter should really register the chips, a friend of mine does it for all the chips implanted by the practice she works at. But as your vet hasn't then you must do it to comply with the law

Have you checked with identichip that it hasn't been registered by the vet? As far as I'm aware, you have to be an implanter to register a chip.

You have to register as a
breeder & then see if you can register the chip.
You could simply check the chip
number

Taken from their website
"The quickest and easiest way to register your pet’s microchip is online. You will need your microchip number and a vet code to complete the form (if you’re unsure what the vet code is, just ask the vet who implanted the microchip for the code). "
My pups were implanted by a vet with identichips a couple of weeks ago, I didn’t realise that I had to register them myself as a breeder and the new keepers swapped them into their name, the vet had done it with previous litters.
I didn’t have any paperwork other than the spare microchip stickers.
The vet didn’t give a code either so I have to phone them to get it tomorrow.
None of the new keepers said they couldn’t do it until one let me know today they were having a problem.

The vets should have registered the litter but it may be that you also have to register an account for yourself so you can access the details and get the transfer codes for the new owners.
Thanks everyone I have managed to register half the chips so far and will do the rest tomorrow to many numbers to do 11 at once. I had to register as breader and when they go I transfer to new owners I transferred one to make sure it worked okay as they are going to a friend. Big difference from 2 years ago the vet done it all for me and then changed address to new owners
Aww that’s not good I got all the information pack but it’s not very clear from a breeders point of view it’s all for new owner
I called the vet - they told me the vet registered the chips to me - the certificates will come through the post to me - I send them on to new owners who then change the details.
Will wait and see, if not I’ll chase it up with identichip.
Seems very convoluted to me!
