hi, my friend and i were having discussion earlier today and we wondered if anyone could answer it more clearly for us.
After a bitch whelps (say she has a season every 6-7 months previous), when should she come into season again? would it be 6-7 months after date of mating, or 6-7 months after whelping? everything we have read seems to contradict, obviously all bitches are different, but what is the general consensus on the matter?

My bitches have always come into season again after a litter as if they hadn't been mated - they just carried on their normal cycles.

Mine do the opposite .............and you can add on two months to there normal due time after having pups!

Mine have come in a couple of weeks (2 or 3) later than if they had not been mated. Instead of going their usual 27 weeks from strat of season to start of season, they have gone 30 weeks. so that is when pups about 20 weeks (5 months old).

As mine is a coated breed this usually means they aren't ready to go back into the showring until their pups are ready to be shown.

One of my bitches came in season at the usual expected time, after having both litters, but she had a dry season both times, she displayed all the usual symptons but no bleeding and no swelling, was really flirty, she sent my dog crazy, she was so flirtatious, dont know if others have experienced this.

When mine came into heat after having pups it was when her pups were about 5 months old. Rather then that she seemed to come into heat every 7 months.

Mine comes in heat 6-7 months from being mated even if she had puppies. So after giving birth she omes in heat after 4 months. That's 2 of my bitches.

Mine have always come in the usual 7 months whether having had a litter or not.
