Anyone had any rain recently? I am in Suffolk and we haven't had a drop for about the last 6 weeks.
The forcasts keep on about possible scattered/ heavy rain but its all happening somewhere else by the look of it.

Getting to the stage where I wouldn't actually mind a good downpour as long as it knew when to stop afterwards.

Yep, two reasonably heavy showers yesterday in North Bristol

We've been Motorhoming round Scotland for the last month. On the third day we had some overnight light rain, then had no more, just hot sunshine. Even Scotland is looking very brown in places although I did manage to spot some splodges of snow up on the mountains.
We will be off to our static on the Suffolk Coast in the next few days. When we were there April/May it was pretty dry and the NT had fire warnings up on the heath. Our caravan site has requested that no one is to use barbecues now due to fire risk
At home my garden is begining to look very dry and miserable, a number of my Acer's in pots look as if they might have died.

There was a sizeable downpour here in north Derbyshire on Friday. For all the good it'll do, we really need lots more. Derwent and Howden reservoirs are looking pretty empty, but there's still quite a bit in Ladybower. But it'll take an awful lot more to fill the soil to the point where it starts to run off and refill them. I clearly remember 1976, but this feels like it could get worse if the weather doesn't change. Then again the schools break up on Friday so that usually is when the weather deteriorates.......!

I live on the N.Cornwall coast and I honest can't REMEMBER when we last had anything other than a few drops of rain. It's dry as a bone and everywhere is brown. I hate it. Trouble is once the taps are turned on again, rain, it won't know when to stop. I suppose it's been marginally better this past week, with lower temperatures and with a breeze which hasn't helped with the brown everywhere. The breeze made the drying out worse I guess. The last time I recall a summer like this was the one summer when we actually took a holiday - went to Austria for 9 days and it NEVER STOPPED RAINING! But at least everything was GREEN.

Not had any rain since i dont know when. Love having summers where uts an actual summer rather than on and off rain and grey skies.
I know plants and crops need rain, it can happen overnight if it must rain imo lol
Live in N Scotland and had no real rain, just a hint of dampness. Getting a bit worried as we are not on mains so reliant on a bore hole and underground streams, not a clue how much water is left down there now
Live in the north east o f England all I can say is what rain
> I know plants and crops need rain, it can happen overnight if it must rain imo lol
Yep agree it can rain all night, and then the sun can come out. That would be perfect.

If you are really worried I would contact a hydrogeologist or local centre for
hydrogeology for help estimating who sent it
Luckily I am in a very "wet"area with chalk subsoil & very extensive aquifer. Never run dry not even in 1976 when the winter had been so much drier than this year

Should read"for help in estimating the extent of the aquifer"
No rain here on the Lincolnshire coast for weeks either. The only good thing is at least the dog stays clean!

Oh yes that is definitely a blessing especially with goldens that can sniff out mud in the middle of the Sahara.

Yeah, we had about 30 mins of soft rain here this am. I'd forgotten what it is to have to dry off damp dogs coming back from exercise
We had thunder storms last night and lots of rain

Nothing here since June 2nd. We're getting loads of lame dogs because of the hard ground.
zilcho in the new forest, not had for many weeks, the moors are looking like sand, all golden instead of green

Update from the N.Cornwall coast. We had RAIN yesterday evening but in all honesty, apart from laying the dust, all it's done is up the HUMIDITY!! We do still have some cloud cover, which should keep the temps. in check, hopefully.

Now at the Suffolk coast and apart from a bit of drizzle two weeks ago, there has been no rain for 17 weeks.

Still nothing where i am in Sussex, other parts or the county have had it but zilch here

Well we finally had rain last night ........... one H*** of a thunderstorm for about ¾ hour with nearly 1" of rain ! of course we totally missed the lunar eclipse - storm started just on 9pm :-)
One problem is that there are still fields waiting to be combined so I imaging they are totally trashed after what came down :-(
Here right on the East Coast, in 24 hours we had three thunderstorms three lots of torrential rain and 50mph wind for an hour, so yes fields of grain will be battered. 40mph winds also forcast for this afternoon and tomorrow. It hasnt cooled things down much though! Weird weather!

Rain in night, but patio slabs dry by morning, a bit this morning only enough to partially dampen the gravel, but only where the fruit trees don't cover.

Here on the Suffolk coast we had a right old thunderstorm, but a huge amount of rain. Down the road at Leiston they had hardly any, yet not far away at all.
Another hit and run thunderstorm this morning, it was obviously in a hurry to get away. About ten minutes of rain. Now hot, sunny and windy.
As with most people in the uk I think, missed the lunar eclipse due to cloud.

Careful what you wish for! We had it almost all hit at once in 10 minutes last evening - it was so heavy (including golf ball sized hailstones, I'm told) and so fast that Morrisons and KFC both suffered roof damage and had to close, and one lady reported being stood waiting in PAH nearby and the water rising so quickly that she made a dash for it, and ended up wading through knee deep water and losing her flip flops!
My road was flooded too, thankfully not for long and it didn't reach my house. All gone within an hour and the shops are back to normal today. I was seriously worried about the chickens as a few of them were sheltering outside instead of going into their garage but thankfully they are all fine. It's making me rethink getting rid of their old garage door though (broken, removed and replaced but still in there as a shelter as I can't get anyone to take the wretched thing) - they were safer under old solid steel than any of their other shelters out there.

Rain - Oh yes. Here on the N.Cornwall coast it's rained today and for the first time really, coming back from the Speed Awareness Course this morning (yes I went, and no we left the hounds at home for 6 hours and they were fine - clean) I had my wipers on the fastest setting! It just poured down - torrential. How much gets into the ground remains to be seen. I was chatting to a man on the Course who had shire horses, 35 of them and was having a terrible time with feed, and with water as their bore hole is running dry. Hopefully the next few days will provide a bit of respite.

We have had a couple of showers here in Liverpool but need a good downpour. Fingers crossed for tomorrow.

Amazing downpour yesterday and for the coming days according to the weather.
It’s been long awaited, my dogs were too hot and miserable (even though they hate the rain
