Please help research to fight cancer in dogs by passing the word. To carry out vital research the Animal Health Trust need samples from dogs (ANY breed) with cancer. More details HERE.

Would that my cancer patients were still alive to contribute to this research.    We've had what could be suggested as too many who developed one or other cancer (from lymphoma to oral cancer and mammary cancer) in old age BUT they did live well into old age - most were over the norm for the breed.

I wish those doing this important research well and hope they get a good response.

I lost a bitch to cancer a few years back. I wish that the Vet had mentioned 'research' at the time because it never occurred to me that maybe some good could come out of what was a traumatic and deeply upsetting time. I guess 'research' is not the first thing that comes to peoples minds when you are in the midst of it, but maybe vets should start mentioning it. It may be to late for our own dogs but if it helps to save our 'future' dogs from such suffering, then it can not happen soon enough. A bit like human organ donation - it's a conversation that needs to be had.
