Hi can anyone tell me the current price for progesterone testing. I have an old form and need to send a test off tomorrow.
Thanks

The eu Website says £33.36 including vat, but I'd email or call to double check.
There will also be the fee your vet charges for the appt and blood sample taking. For us the whole thing was about £85 a pop.
Thanks. I'll give them a ring in the morning.

Wow, how much does your vet charge to draw some blood? Ours charged us £12.
Vets where I live are v expensive. Just a basic appointment (not doing anything to dog) is £39. Then Idexx fee. I guess the remainder is what the cost of the blood draw was... which makes it £13 - same as your vet.

So really your vet charged you £52 to take the blood (blood draw plus consultation).

Can the nurse not draw the blood. I pay £18 for that and no consult fee.
Yes, JoStockbridge - essentially!
SueJaw I believe that the paperwork for Idexx needs to be filled in by a vet (not a nurse) and the vet needs to sign to give consent for IDexx to contact the owner directly and not just give results back to the vet.

I get my blood sample drawn by the vet or nurse (whoever is available) then fill in the form myself, no need for the vet's signature. Idexx then ring me direct. That's the way I've always done it and never had a problem.

I got the kit sent to me by idexx last time i used them. Filled out the paperwork myself and then packaged it up and the vets had thw courier collect it
Hmmm, interesting. I had the vet do our first draw and Idexx wouldn't give me the result - total PITA. For second draw, I had the vet right on the form that they gave consent for us to contact them direct for results.
I am hoping not to need to use progesterone next time as using a local stud, though...

I paid that sort of amount back in 2008, when my bitch went to Stud up North and the dog showed no interest by day 17,m she was found to only be on verge of ovulation and was mated days 18 - 22.
Apart from not liking to subject my bitches to repeated blood draws, would not routinely progesterone test, makes for a lot of additional expense if a series of three or more were needed, which is starting day 8 in above bitch could well have been the case..
