My dog had her 3 letter and she just digged under the sofa I called a vet and they said it was normal but I just need more info .... her puppies are 3 days old we also had to give 4 of them to the humane society yesterday ... she keeps winning off and on her puppies are fine the ones she has now but it's the running around the house and digging under the sofa

Has she seen a vet to check her over or did u just make a call ?  by saying I gave 4 to the humane society did u mean 4 had to be put to sleep ?

You need to get her checked out by a vet. Why did the humane society take 4 pups at 3 days old?

OP is in the USA(according to profile flag)

To get the situation correct can I ask OP to confirm their situation.

This is the bitch's 3rd litter, she whelped under your sofa & your vet said this was OK & normal(however GP vets are NOT experts on natural whelping) & your bitch keeps running away plus you have got rid of three of the puppies to a rescue ?

That was how I read it tommee and given the wording using humane society I assumed us too .having confirmation of those questions would definitely help those who can give advice do so. Did she give birth under the sofa or has been digging since ?  7 pups all together 4 possibly in rescue or had to be euthanized?

I read it as whining on and off, and did wonder about calcium deficiency. As the OP isn't responding, we can only hope the situation has settled.

Your bitch needs to be in a safe, enclosed, bed, preferably in a darkened area so she feels like she's in a safe den. Make sure you give her plenty of fluids and give her calcium, either from your vet (Collo-cal D is excellent) or calcium tablets. Whining and digging after birth can be absolutely normal as a response to the pain of the uterus contracting, but can also be a sign of calcium deficiency.
Why did you need to give away 4 of the puppies?
