My Dog, who is 9 years old, recently started walking funny, looking as though his back legs weren't working. He was prescribed painkillers, but he got worse after 3 days. The Vet then prescribed steroid painkillers. 2 a day for 5 days, then 1 a day (30 tablets). He seemed to get worse again. This time he was detained in the vets and confined to a cage to restrict his movement. The Vet diagnosed that je jad possibly slipped a disc in his neck and his nerve-ends were suffering as a result(hence the staggering). While detained, his dosage of the steroids was upped to 4 a day. We have now to keep him in a cage for 2 weeks.Has anyone seen this condition before?. Will he get better. My wife gets upset every time she sees him trying to walk.
I saw a similar case a good fews years back, it was an elderly dachshund and she was so grumpy which was completely out of the norm for her but she was in a lot of discomfort. I don't know how bad her slipped disc problem was but she was confined to a cage for 3 weeks and was given steriods although I can't remember the dose and she made a full recovery.
I'm not a vet so unfortunately can't same the same thing will happen to your dog but I can confirm I have seen it once before and the dog came up trumps. Fingers crossed for you :-)

find a doggy chiropracter, they'll manipulate everything back to where it should be, ive back problems at times i cant walk, sometimes i lean over to one side, once ive been to the magic man im back to normal again-as normal as i get!!!, theyre great -honest, the dog will relax and enjoy it, your vet should know of one or ring around, or find one on the net!!its worth it ,
