I thought you couldn't register a litter from the same dam within a year of her previous litter. Has this rule changed? Or have I got myself confused?

No ruling by the kc sadly. If an abs it is i believe a ruling part of that

Could have shown I'd read that the kc wouldn't register a litter bred within 12 months after a previous litter...

Only licensed breeders under the 1999 breeding & sale of dogs act

From the Breeding and Sale of Dogs (Welfare) Act 1999:

Licensed breeders must:.......

Not whelp two litters within a 12 month period from the same bitch.
Keep accurate records.

Were all three litters registered by same ownership...this is how some seem to get round the way they use their bitch for making money

I'm not sure Lexy. I'm just looking at my kc. Not sure how I would determine who had ownership and when. There were two litters last year and the current litter, six months after the last.

The current and previous litter were both sired by the same stud. First litter was a different dog. How can one find out who has current ownership of a dog?

There is no affix that I can find although I can see who bred the stud. But then, some working dog breeders in this breed don't get an affix...

Virtually all this kind of info is easily looked up in the relevant BRS for the group the dog is in.

Owners details are not shown in BRS only dogs names unless that has changed recently

It gives the names of breeder & then if dog is transfered name of from & to ! Obviously if dogs are not transfered one cant follow new owners ! This is some of the info i was referring to !

These details are every 3 months & the a puppy can be 5or 6 months before it appears(depending on how quick the litter is registered)

If one has the time & patience one can find out quite a bit !

Only applies to Licensed breeders (those needing an LA breeding License).

It helps overcome the silly situations where there is perfectly good reason for a second litter, such as shorter interval between cycles or even very long ones that meant a litter born a few days or weeks short of 12 months, a singleton litter etc, where waiting might mean poor timing for the breeder bitch or stud (sages, other commitments etc).

Also BRS shows by bitches name number of litters and date of previous litter.

I don't get the supplement myself but its good know that the information is there if one is willing to spend the time digging.

Barbara's post might well apply to me.  I had a quality Long Coat Chihuahua bitch.  This breed is best mated on the second season.  All my girls are spayed at 4 years old, whether they've been bred from or not.

My top girl was mated and had 2 pups.  Pretty normal number.  She was rested on her next season.  The following season she was mated and whelped a week before her year was up.  There was no problem registering the litter.  Another 2 pups which I kept.  And I have never bred for money, ever.
