Hi everyone
I could do with a little advice please
My girl is overdue going off her first mating which was on her 8th day off of her season (she was also mated on day 10) this is her 2nd litter, she whelped her 1st litter on day 61 with 4 beautiful heathy pups. She is definitely bigger this time round and was clearly showing by 5 weeks pregnant so would say she's having more this time, I'm just a little anxious that she's gone over her 63rd day which was Sunday as most mini's deliver between day 61 and 63, or if she court on the 10th day of mating her 63rd day would of been yesterday (Tuesday). She is doing great no signs of anything to be worried about but wanted some advice from other breeders as I am no longer in contact with my mentor from the first litter. Would you be thinking about contacting the vet's about now?

Monday day 64 / poss 62
Temp 37.5
Lost mucus plug (found out the hard way

You need to go to the vet if you get to Day 65 from ovulation and you have no puppies yet.  If you don't know when ovulation was, and you didn't do cytology to see when she entered diestrus (which gives you a whelping window of 24hrs) then you have no way of knowing when she will whelp.

Are you taking her temperature 4x daily, have you seen a temperature drop?

Tuesday day 65 / poss 63
Temp 37.2
Eat a little to much at once and was sick

Wednesday day 66 / poss 64
Temp 37.0

She's definitely dropped too but didn't really notice what day it was, and puppies are still very lively.

Sorry this extra info was in original post god knows where it went?

OK, so if you are temping and you want to get meaningful and useful data....

A week before whelping, take temperature 4x/day.  Use a GOOD digital thermometer costing £10 or more.  Use KY jelly on it (or similar non-petroleum).  Insert at least half way up the instrument to get an accurate reading.  Normal temp is 100.5F to 102.5F.  Most bitches in their last few weeks have temps around 100F but fluctuations from 99.5F to 100.5F are normal.  Temps will often be higher in the AM and drop as day goes on.  You are looking for a large temperature drop that persists at least 8hrs - this will be 24-36hrs prior to whelping.  So - you need 2 consecutive readings with temp 99F or lower.  Some will go as low as 97F.

So one low temp, is not enough for it to have dropped officially.

Thank you onetwothreefour
I wasn't doing it 4x a day but I was doing it daily abd it was dropping every day, the thermometer I use is a digital one brought from Lloyds pharmacy, it is a good one
I had made an appointment with the vets for this morning to get her checked over to be on the safe side,   but I have good news, 15 minutes after checking her temp last night at 8.30pm she started whelping  and at 11.35pm puppy number 1 was born followed by puppy number 2 at 12.14am and puppy number 3 at 2.04am, so we have 3 beautiful strong healthy pup's, everything went plain sailing and mom and puppies are doing fantastic
