Hi can anyone recommend a vet that's good at hip scoring in the South West? I'm at the tip of Cornwall and Southern Canine Imaging is too far to go.

Does the KC website give a list of vets who will score under the KC/BVA scheme?

I sympathise as although we live on the N.Cornwall coast just over the border from N. Devon, getting 'anywhere' involves travel.

Thanks MamaBas, South Devon Vets is the only one that comes up on a search in the South West...I may give them a try as that's not too far to travel.

I'm pretty certain ALL vets will (bar those few that run basic clinics only for vaccinations and neuterings), it's just a question of whether they are good at positioning or not.

To be honest, seeing it's a test you do once and once only and get no future goes at, and seeing positioning makes a huge difference to results, I would make the trip to Southern Canine Imaging and tie it in with a trip for another reason or a holiday or something else...

Thanks for all the replies, sadly not possible for me to be away from home for more then a few hours. After speaking to my local vet who I trust 100% I decided to let him do the hip X-rays  as he specialises in orthopaedics..... so we shall see the results in a few weeks!

For future reference, if you really don’t want to go to SCI which I do from the Cornish border, Mercury vets are quite good as is Chris Warren at Westmoor Vets.

Well I've had Megs hip score results today and I'm very pleased with the result of total 9 not bad for a 3 year old GWP so if anyone's wanting a recommendation for who to use it's Ian Gibbs at Churchend St Austell but he'll only do it under a GA.
