Do you think that Plaque Off is the best product for removing the tarter and improving smelly breath in small breed dogs?

Aside from a dental at the vets I've found marrow bones to be the best and the odd frozen carrot too.

These products have never worked for mine.   It's always been a dental.

Tried Plaque Off for my Papillons, total waste of money. I've not found anything that works for small dogs except regular cleaning.

I have used PetzLife Gel Vet Strength brilliant saved my old boy from have to go to the vets to is teeth cleaned. You have to use it as they say and depending how bad might take a couple of weeks.

I give my dogs a piece of dried tripe each evening, great for keeping their teeth clean ☺

Peppe how bad were your oldie's teeth? I've got a 13 yo Papillon who really needs his teeth done but his heart has been a bit dodgy so I'm very reluctant. His teeth have a lot of tartar, very thick.

Just wondering if you end up with fish scales everywhere from the chews MamaBas? I bought some dried fish (forget what brand now) and there were fish scales everywhere.

Oooh no - couldn't be dealing with that.  What I buy is Sea Jerky - Tiddlers - usually when they have an offer on if I get my timing right!!

and for sure, every scrap is hoovered up!

Louis, my first Papillon and toy breed, has good clean teeth at 2 1/2 years.  I'm crossing fingers that it'll persist. My 'big' (8kg) dog, Pip, also has good teeth at 3 1/2 though he did have a little plaque on a canine that I managed to scrape off with my nails.
I raw feed with chunks and bones. I also give hooves and the occasional tripe stick plus rope tuggies.

Thanks. I had forgotten Petzlife. I will look into that.

My 3 year old toy breed started getting a big build up of tartar on her back teeth, with gum inflammation even though she was raw fed and had regular marrow bones.

I then started using plaque off and within 2 or 3 weeks there was a big difference. She is now 7 and has beautiful white teeth and no gum disease.

I think it is one of those things. It works for some and not for others.

Plaqueoff has never worked for any of mine.  From Bearded Collie to Chihuahua.  Having so many dogs I bought a very large quantity.  Wish I'd spent the money on chocolate.  (Not for the dogs.)

I think it is the luck of the draw. It definitely soften the plaque on my girls teeth and it then just scraped off. The do a human version apparently with the same results.

I was also told that it helps if the dog is raw fed - something to do with the Ph in the saliva is different to kibble fed dogs..no idea why,or if this is in fact true.

Such a shame you didn't invest in chocolate..:fat::fat::fat:

What's the human version called, my teeth collect plaque like it's going out of fashion

It's the same manufacturer: Proden Plaque Off for Humans.

Just go onto Amazon, it's there..

I can recommend Dentasure gel--does not contain grain alcohol and really does work

Carbs are basically sugars and encourage bacteria to breed around the teeth.  So feeding a low carb diet will probably see less build up around the teeth.
