My dogs have a leather sofa (lucky things). I want to cover it with a throw or something similar to prevent it getting dirty or scratched. They are usually wet after a walk. I have not found any type of throw which will stay on the sofa. They all slip off. Fleeces are the worst. Any suggestions please.

I'm looking for this very thing so will be interested in any replies myself.

Lovely cream leather sofa and a dog that enjoys her cuddles of an evening ( I do too). The consequence is a grubby sofa which I have to clean regularly, would love to find something that stays put on leather

Other than perhaps using a foam backed cover (you may find something suitable on Over The Top) I don't know of any cover that would stay put.  Which is why I avoided buying a leather sofa all these years

I have just bought one off Amazon. So far it has stayed on. i am going to buy another to alternate.

I bought a kingsize duvet cover from a charity shop and opened it up on the longest side. Then put the whole sofa "inside" the duvet cover - slipped the edge that I had opened over the back of the sofa and down to the floor front and back and then put a large piece of plastic on the sofa seats beneath the duvet cover , vet bed on the outside on top of the plastic lined duvet , on the seat area, which  holds the cover in place and keeps damp dogs comfortable without the water going through to the leather sofa.

Blimey - I have a hard enough time getting a duvet cover over our double sized bed duvet without trying it on a SOFA     For my sanity, I'd replace leather sofa!!!

We just wash our dogs after walks/garden and towel dry them, clean furniture and the rest of the house without the need for any covers (nicer looking too I think!) and now with this Alabama rot everywhere I'm hoping it is preventative as well.

More on the topic though, try double/king size fitted sheet. If your sofa is about 2m long it should fit well lengthwise, one side of the sheet all the way down the back of the sofa and underneath, the other side of the sheet on the front and underneath. The elastics should keep it relatively in place, though in the middle I suppose it would still be sliding and probably look horrid but if its just for dogs then it won't matter much.

Agree about the leather sofa looking nicer without throws etc. I always take mine off at this time of year as generally speaking dogs are not so muddy now. Can really recommend anything from Orvis though pricey they are good quality and long lasting.

My D.I.L always used real sheepskin rugs on her leather sofa's, she says they never slipped..but she says they need to be real sheepskin not the imitation synthetic type.

It's easier getting it on the sofa than on a duvet It's like putting a dust sheet over the sofa but one that is joined on three sides. Wrestling a duvet into its cover is not one of my most favourite jobs

I have three leather sofas - two are dog sofas, in different rooms, and one is a human sofa along with the two leather chairs that go with it. My dogs don't try and get onto the human sofa (although my real oldie does sometimes flout that rule) but know they are allowed on their sofas whenever they want. My human sofa is getting on for 30 years old and still looks good. The dog sofas are around 12 years old - and the worst colour ever, cream - but were the ones I had in my kitchen and the dogs have always used them, not such good quality as mine but still doing a stirling job. I love leather sofas with dogs - no hair sticks to them and they are easy to wipe clean with baby wipes.

It's not so much that the dog is muddy, the lounge (and sofa) is upstairs and only used in the evenings. Goldens seem to have an oily water repellant top coat and this is what comes off on the sofa.

If you go to a fabric shop (depends on where you live but most towns will have a south Asian community and they usually shops that stock loose fabric on rolls).

I helped a friend, who purchased grey denim for her leather sofa. She simply brought enough fabric to go up and over the sofa and tucked the corners under each foot.

Once sat on, the weight will stop the fabric coming out from under the feet. She tucked any extra bits underneath.
