Looking after a friend's dog and took a huge tick off his head. I know it's normal for the spot to be swollen after, and I know I got the whole thing out, but I'm wondering if there's anything I can put on to encourage the swelling to go down or if it's just a case of being patient?

In my experience there's always a lump in the skin where a tick has been removed. I find it goes down in a few days. So I'd say just wait and be patient.

I usually put germolene on it, no idea if it helps or not but it makes me feel better :D

Put some antiseptic cream on it, it does often swell up into a bump.
