I have 2 Staffies... Jack is 7months and Guinness , the female is nearly 6 months.. *eeek*... the dig, chew ,drive me mad... even though they have toys and treats and go for walks twice a day!! and not boring walks either!! they get treated very well!! they get taken to the beach.. I live in Cape Town.. get to run around in the bush... I am going mad. Not even their Obedience Trainer knows what to do!

Hi Tamlyn,
I got left with 2 puppies from the same litter, and agree with you that 2 puppies the same age can be "Hell-on-Wheels"! One pup at 6 or 7 months till about 18 months is bad enough, but two together can be more than twice as bad! I'll never do it again! The only consolation I can offer you is my experience - keep plugging away at the training (do them separately!:)) and by the time they reach about 2 years old they should be settling. At least you can be sure this behaviour is normal! Good luck :)

I agree definately train them separately, they sound like they bonded more with each other. Put one in a kennel and take the other out and do some one on one training. Even do at least one walk a day with them one on one.
Good luck

Tamlyn,

Two puppies are more then double trouble, they are trouble squared. One of the reasons many breeders will not let two puppies from the same litter go to the same household.

My friend has two golden retrievers a month apart in age. When they were pups they ate her kitchen, from floor to skirting boards, as well as any piece of the kitchen cabinets they could reach, and destroyed all of their bedding. They always egged each other on - companions in crime. Now that they are about 2-1/2 years old they have settled nicely.

How lovely to live in Cape Town! The most beautiful spot on planet Earth.

Good luck with your youngsters, they do grow out of it.

My word!!! 1-2 years?? i will be grey by then!! *lol* ... Luckily the little female is a bit quieter... I do train them separately but it is when they are together, that is when the trouble starts!
And another thing... I have a vegetable garden growing in the garden, they wont dig in there but they do steal the tomatoes and spinach etc. I shouldn't worry about that right??
