We have just brought home our beautiful black Lab puppy. She was fed a raw diet by her breeder (mince, rice etc.) and although I would like to try to stick to it, I am concerned that she will not be getting the correct balance of nutrients in her diet. A friend recommended Naturediet and I must admit her dogs look wonderful on it. I was wondering if anyone had fed their dogs on it and if so how their dogs got on with it.

Hi .
I wouls tryu to stick with the original diet, a raw natural diet is the best one. I have fed raw meat/veg etc... for a couple of years now and would never revert back. It is a totally balanced and natural way of feeding your dog. Naturediet is a great alternative to raw as is Natures menu made by Anglian meat products, they contain no cereals, wheat or fillers. Have a look at their website, they do loads of products, raw and cooked, I am sure you will find something there to suit if you do not want to mess with the raw stuff. www.naturesmenu.co.uk

Hi Guest
I feed Nature Diet to my 2 dogs, and they love it. One was a very fussy eater, and she would go a couple of days without eating properly..but with the ND she hasnt missed a day in nearly 1 1/2 years...
I must admit, I couldnt feed BARF as i have issues with raw meat  but each person is different....I do agree with some of the other posters though, it is not usually recommended to change a puppies diet as soon as you get it.....although you can wean them off and change their diet over a few months etc..

Dawn - I looked at this website. I also just want the cooked stuff - is it the "Original Cooked Meats" range that you mean?
I've also used Nature Diet but dog doesn't seem to like eating it in the morning, only at night.
thanks

Hi Cissy.
The best cooked ones they do (IMO) is the Original prize choice frozen menu's. They do beef chunks, organic chicken and rice, cooked tripe with brown rice, cooked chicken chunks and lamb and rice chunks. You only need defrost it, the feed it. I found the other main site of theirs, www.anglianmeatproducts.co.uk look at the original cooked meats, yes, thats what I mean, also look at the natures menu section, thats very similar to naturediet.
Dawn.
Me, me - I use naturediet for my two labs, and they love it. Sleek and shiny, bags of energy, maybe I should try it too.
Lorna ;)
I use Naturediet and find it very good, I also use the other one - Nature's menu. I find it very good - dog loves it, great coat etc - and stools that are easy to pick up too. I mix and match I'm afraid as i feed tripe too and other stuff, but Naturediet is probably 80% of what I feed.

Thanks - looking at his shiny coat, I think the Nature Diet (with a bit of Burns dry food) has been very good for him, just don't know why he doesn't want to eat it for breakfast. I found some of the cooked Nature Menu yesterday at Pets at Home and it does seem quite similar to Nature Diet - he wolfed that down this morning so I have regained hope in his breakfast feeding.
I used to give him Hill's and so glad I've changed because the difference in his coat is remarkable - even his colour seems to have intensified and he looks like a mink now.
