The Kennel Club changed with tradition and decided to award Reserve Best in Show before Best in Show this year. What are your thoughts?
Personally, I think it took the 'impact' away from the Best in Show dog.

I found it a bit strange, the judge indicated the RBIS and then seemed to have another look at the rest, - bit late at that stage to change her mind on the one she had picked for BIS.

I think it would have worked well if is wasn't for the debacle that occured with the protestors. I think that is what drew attention from the winner.

It goes against their own rules of not awarding in reverse order!!!!
I believe it was the tv company that wanted it done in this manner.
I didnt like it & think it should be kept within the rules by awarding bis first

Oh boy - what a shambles. I wonder how many of the audience realised it had been decided to award Reserve first! And then when the Whippet was called out (why did she take another look eh!!) it all went pear-shaped. No! I prefer BIS to be given and then RBIS. If it ain't broke, which it wasn't, don't fix it!

It confused the heck out of me as I was watching something on the tv as well as watching the Crufts live feed on the iPad with the sound turned off. Thought the Pointer had one only for the Whippet to put by the cup, then it all went pear shaped. Began to wonder what on earth I was watching

I really didn’t like it. I think that’s how they do it in some foreign countries. It did take away the drama and excitement of waiting for the wave to the winner from the judge.

I too think it was a good idea but was marred by the protesters and I think if that hadn't have happened it would have worked well.
The table signing had parallels to Westminster and a tiny part of me thinks that is what they were attempting to emulate. However, the Westminster judge is always miked up so I found the walk back down the line to build suspense a wee bit silly.
I was sat in the audience and we were told that Reserve was being awarded first - I do think it's nice that the reserve gets their moment of glory at a big show as they can be overlooked.
Wasn't keen on the lack of fanfare, however!
