I was the proud owner of 2 beautiful border terriers.
Sky who is the young age of 15 years old - deaf! but otherwise in good health even with a brain tumor so she is on TLC.
Our second girl was Bea she was 4 year old, on 1 December 2017 she had her first epileptic fit, we thought it was Sky that late night not Bea. We took video as suggested on the forum and show to vet and so went to see Dr Lowrie (neurologist) who confirmed and gave meds. I will not go into the details of what happened 'with blunders from my vets' but after changing vets poor Bea lost her fight on 1st February 2018. In short the Epiphen can in rare cases have a reverse effect to what it should do! My local vet did not recognise these symptoms and left it far too long in speaking to consultant for advice and guidance.
I must add the Canine epilepsy support group - Anne Morley has a huge knowledge and support in our short time together.
We will be looking for another Border terrier in time, but not until Sky 'has passed over the rainbow'
Advice on how to help us find our next BT in time will be greatly appreciated, I hope you do not mind .

Good breeders are usually best sourced via the relevant Breed Club.   They have Codes of Ethics which should rule out the BYB.

So sorry for your loss and indeed, having spoken with the Canine Epilepsy Support people (may not be the same people?) re a dog we'd used for what ended as our final litter, who developed Epilepsy, for advice, I can vouch for them being super people, with a ton of experience.

Welcome to the group.   You will find loads of help and advice on CD.

I agree that the BT Breed Group is your best shot for now.  They will answer questions and point you in the right direction.  It is often good to visit breeders before they have a litter on the ground.  You will find out if you like their dogs, and, importantly that you feel happy with the breeder.  People will often say yes to a visit when they don't have the pressure of pups to look after.
