Topic Dog Boards / General / Must have grooming equipment for a Cavalier King Charles?
- By ln02 Date 03.03.18 20:31 UTC
Hi,

I am going to crufts next week and just wondered if anyone can help me, I have basic grooming combs and brushes but wondered if anyone shows their cavaliers and could help me with 'must have' equipment?

I have joined cavalier forums but they do not seem to be used very much and not really finding out the exact names of brushes, combs and shampoo's etc.

Thank you
:-)

It isn't overly obvious to me but do you mean your going to watch/shop or are you going as an exhibitor?

Hi Lexy,

I'm looking to buy grooming equipment whilst I am at crufts, just wanted to add items to my shopping list :-)

Why not ask the exhibitors, on their benches?   Not before they are going into the ring tho.   Most would be more than willing to advise you.

My breeder was very helpful when I had your problem. I had owned dogs for many years before but had changed to a new breed to me. I am sure there are lots of Cavi people on this site though who will be happy to help. Grooming equipment is not cheap so best to get the right things. The stuff at Crufts is a lot cheaper than elsewhere, so it's a good idea.

Really?   That was never my experience - it's 'cheapest' if you identify what you need to be buying and buy it online - Ebay for eg.

Come and say hi! I'll be there with my tricolour girl Katie. Tbh I tend to mostly just use a soft slicker brush and wide tooth comb, and I do like Simpsons mink oil shampoo for giving a nice shine on the coat. As long as you don't fuss the dogs and fluff their coat up before they've been shown  most of us will be happy to talk to you and tell you what products we like, though you're likely to find everyone has a different recommendation!
